Marie Shields Homes provides a safe and nurturing residential children’s home for children and young people aged 8-17 years old, who might have emotional behavioural difficulties.
The overall purpose of Marie Shields is to provide quality care that is holistic, tailored to the individual and diverse needs of young people in an environment that is nurturing, protects them from harm and enables them to build self-esteem and acquire skills vital for leading independent lives. To support young people to identify and fulfill their potential to the very best of their abilities whilst empowering them to add positive value to our communities.

Marie Shields provides a bespoke service where our residents have access to 1:1 or 2:1 support depending on the needs of each child or the care plan. With qualified therapists, mentor services, education tutors, and careers advisors The goal is to influence the growth of every young person’s talent as we believe there is potential and gifts in every children and young person given the right support.

Marie Shields’ staff work within the parameters of trauma-informed guidelines. Our team is trained in PACE, PBS, and therapeutic approaches, with the aim of counteracting the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) as well as Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties (EBDs).
Our staff are trained to support the challenges that some of our children and young people may have encountered, including anxiety, depression, self-harm tendencies, difficulties with emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, aggression, bullying, absconding, or other complex behaviors. We believe that this support helps to build our children and young people’s self-esteem and sense of self-worth.
Marie Shields staff work within the parameters of the informed trauma guidelines with the aim to help counteract the effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACE’s) as well as EBDs.
They strive to support the challenges that some of our young people may have encountered, including difficulties with mental and physical health. We believe that this will help to build our young people’s self-esteem and sense of self-worth.
